A good reason to celebrate: Roman has become an uncle

It is the second time he has been in this Spanish resort to prepare for the upcoming season. This time around he is there with all his teammates. “The entire team showed up, even the guys who were competing in Australia made it here. We ride in small groups and every day we shuffle around. Up to this point, I have been really content with my condition,” he said. “Anyway, I think that each of us is in better shape compared to last year and right from the beginning of the season we will be very competitive. Riders like Brajkovic or Kiserlovski are on form.”With the season approaching, the training rides become more intensive. Roman will kick off the race season on Sardinia as planned. “I´m staying in Calpe until Friday and then I´m going to spend the weekend at home. After that, I´m traveling for the last camp on Tenerife near the Teide volcano where I´m going to put in some kilometers at high altitudes. Gasparotti, Brajkovic and Kessiakoff will keep me company there,” he revealed. The Astana riders participated in their team presentation in Calpe on Tuesday. “It was a rather relaxed day. We went out for a ride with sponsors and journalists and after that, the team presentation was scheduled for 6pm. At first our riders appeared on the stage one by one in the alphabetic order with Brajkovic, me and Vino as the last three.  We answered a couple of questions, had some promo pictures taken,  had dinner with the guests and went to bed relatively early – at 10:30 – because a tough and long day was ahead of us,” Roman added.
