About me

Roman Kreuziger was born on May 6, 1986, in Moravska Trebova. He has been practising sport since childhood. He tried to succeed in football and ice-hockey but when celebrating his 11th birthday he was given a road bike. Since then road cycling has been dominated in his life. At first he was under surveillance of his father and then his coaches were Rabon and Pecenka in the team Skoda Pilsen.

At the age of fifteen he went to Switzerland into a junior team called Schumacher where he spent almost four years. Then he represented the colours of the Italian squad Podenzano for the riders under 23 and since 2006 he has been a member of Liquigas team where he has become one of the leaders. He is specialized in stage races, he aslo excels at climbs and time trials.

Roman graduated from Secondary Sporting and Business School in Pilsen. He wanted to finish this school because he says himself that it is necessary to have education, one never knows what can happen. He lives in Pilsen and speaks fluently Italian and German. During the winter time he prepares for a season by Lago di Garda in Italy. He also trains in mountains in the Czech Republic, namely in the surrounding of the village Horska Kvilda in Sumava. He has got two sisters, Helen and Teresa.

His father, who won the world under-19 cyclocross championship, has a great influance on Roman. He is still his adviser and they take a ride together from time to time. Despite his young age, Roman is a well-known figure all across the Czech Republic. He has twice become the King of the Czech cycling and he finished 8th in the award of Sportsperson of the Year 2008 with the competition of Olympic winners and world champions.
