An attack in vain

Sat March 27, 2010, 20:08

The sixth stage of the Tour of Catalan was won by Frenchman Dumoulin while Spaniard Rodriguez is heading to the overall victory. Roman finished seventh today and he is now eighth in the GC.

Roman tried to attack with one and a half kilometer remaining. "But Tondo, who is second by ten seconds, went after me. When the others saw what was happening they immediately launched a counter attack because they were scared he would jeopardize Rodriguez’s lead. Too bad it was him who joined me. If it had been someone else, the pack might have let me go but that’s the way it is. When I stayed in the front I tried to sprint and eventually I took seventh," Roman said after the stage, which was supposed to be 160 km long, but eventually it turned out to be 180 km…
