“Considering how I felt after the Lutych, the outcome is still good. I spent almost the whole night after the race on the toilet, I didn’t sleep well. I had cramps in my stomach and I felt nauseous. Yesterday I got some sleep but I did not feel tip top. My stomach was somewhat puffy so I knew the prologue would be no bed of roses for me. I hoped not to lose too much on the others which I managed. Six seconds is nothing,” Roman said.
His Liquigas teammate Peter Sagan finished in the second spot having lost only one second. “Too bad for him he didn’t take the win, it was really close. But now we are facing two hilly stages in which he could succeed in sprints and don the yellow jersey. I will try to save some strength to be ready for the Friday’s time-trial. I believe that I will feel better tomorrow.“ Roman added.
Results (4.3 km): 1st Pinotti (Ita/HTC-Columbia) 5:18, 2nd Sagan (Svk/Liquigas-Doimo) +1, 3rd Roy (Fra/FDJ), 4th Rogers (Aus/HTC-Columbia) both +3, 5th Flens (Ned/Rabobank) + 4, 6th Moreau (Fra/Caisse d’Epargne) +5, 7th Henderson (NZl/Sky), 8th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Liquigas-Doimo) +6.
