Eleventh at the Strade Bianche

Roman showed a solid performance at the Italian classic Strade Bianche where he finished eleventh as the best Tinkoff-Saxo rider. He lost 1´03” to his fellow countryman Štybar who grabbed the victory.

The Tinkoff-Saxo team was riding in the service of Peter Sagan who, however, was unable to keep up with the front group. “Peter is not in his best shape but this sometimes happens and there is still plenty of time before the most prestigious races come. Let us not make a big deal out of it,” said Roman.

“As this race does not belong to the WorldTour we were not allowed to use radios and the communication was quite difficult. We did even know what happened to Peter, if he had a puncture or got dropped. You have to wait for information before you take any decision,” described Roman.
