Fourteenth at the Amstel

Roman finished in 14th position at the Amstel Gold Race in Holland having crossed the finish line with the same time as the victorious Polish rider Michal Kwiatkowski.

“Too bad I did not get a better result to score some UCI points but there were better riders than me in that group. I might have started the climb way up front, I probably should have ridden from the back but there is no point in crying over spilt milk. I am happy that my condition is good after the training period and I can look towards other classic races,” said Roman.

“I had a puncture with 50km to go, it was not the best place to have a technical but our boys managed to get me back into the group. It is a pity that we lost Michael Vlagen in the last 5km, he is very fast and he could have finished in top five. He is still very young and this race about gaining experience that he is lacking,” added Roman.
