Great teamwork in the wind

The Czech leader praised his teammates for a job well done in the windy conditions. “The team did a great job. Once we tried to split the pack up but we failed,” Roman said after the stage. “Two riders broke away at about 20km mark and they built up to an 8-minute advantage. They were caught with some 40km to go and right after that Voight with two riders escaped. Unfortunately, we chased them down only on the finish line so we can practically say that the stage ended up in a regular sprint.”1st stage (154.5 km): 1st Thomas De Grendt (Bel/Vacansoleil) 4:05:06, 2nd Jérémy Roy (Fra/FDJ), 3rd Heinrich Haussler (Aus/Cervélo), 4th Peter Sagan (Svk/Liquigas), 5th Greg Henderson (NZl/Sky), 6th Jens Voigt (Ger/Leopard Trek), … 32nd Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana).
