"I'm happy because the gap between me and the top positions is not big. Losing seven seconds on Contador on an eight-kilometer long track is not that much," Roman said. His Slovak teammate Sagan showed his qualities, finishing fifth. "He proved to be in good shape, on the other hand he rode at the beginning of the race when there was hardly any wind. For the last twenty riders the wind picked up significantly which was to our disadvantage, despite that, I did perform well today"
Results of the prologue (8 km): 1st Boom (Ned/Rabobank) 10:56, 2nd Voigt (Ger/Saxo Bank) +3, 3rd Leipheimer (USA/RadioShack), 4th Contador (Spa/Astana) both +6, 5thSagan (Svk/Liquigas), 6th Tondo (Spa/Cervélo) both +10, 7th Millar (GBr/Garmin), 8th L. Sanchez (Spa/Caisse d’Epargne) both +12, 9th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Liquigas) +13, 10th S. Sanchez (Spa/Euskaltel) +15.
