I believe for justice to prevail

Despite not being able to race at the Tour de France, Roman did not put the bike and the French monumental race out of his mind and he is hopeful that justice will prevail in his current case. He was practicing in Italy until Friday and he is now enjoying a couple of days off in the Czech Republic.

“I will be taking a rest until Wednesday and then I will start re-building my condition. On Sunday I am leaving for a team training camp in the Italian town of Passo Tonale. There will a group of 12 teammates and we will have a coach, mechanic and masseur at hand so I am looking forward to it,” said Roman.

His biological passport issue has not been solved yet and, therefore, he has no idea when he will be back in the race action. “There is still an ongoing investigation and I have no further information from the UCI. I cannot tell when the case will be closed,” said Roman.

Although he is not participating in the Tour he is taking the difficult situation in a relaxed way. His wife Míša and daughter Viktorka have their parts in that. “Since the case was open I have become used to receiving both good and bad news. When I get good news I keep my feet on the ground and when I hear a piece of bad news I do not get discouraged. If there is any justice then I believe that everything will turn out well. On the one hand, I feel relieved that it all came out and we are dealing with it, on the other hand, I have no idea when the case will be closed.”

Time permitting Roman watches the Tour on TV. “I am still passionate about cycling. I follow the Tour and I am in a daily contact with my teammates. Yesterday I texted with them,” he revealed.
