Roman didn’t fall behind in the strong wind during the first stage of the Giro Di Sardegna. He crossed the finish line in the main group as the best Liquigas rider in nineteenth place.

Roman didn’t fall behind in the strong wind during the first stage of the Giro Di Sardegna. He finished nineteenth in the first group with the same time as the winner.  
"It wasn’t bad today. Had I believed in myself more I might have tried to do better. I proved myself that there is nothing to be afraid of. We rode for four and a quarter hours and the strong wind was blowing almost all the time so we were lined up one after another. The main group split up on the last climb and I hung in there without any major difficulties. It was great as a practice ride. Tomorrow’s stage features a top mountain finish so Nibali could win even though he was suffering from cramps a little bit today and lost some seconds," Roman said. 
Results – 1st stage (Olbia-Bornova 144.2 km): 1st Gavazzi (Ita/Lampre) 4:16:50, 2nd Gatto, 3rd Visconti (both Ita/ISD-Neri), 4th Failli (Ita/Acqua e Sapone), 5th Niemec (Pol/Miche), ... 19th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Liquigas).
