I´d be happy to keep the podium spot

As expected, the penultimate stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico did not see any changes in the general classification and ende in a mass sprint that was won by Cavendish. Roman still keeps the third place overall.

“Our priority is Alberto´s overall victory: that is very close but since we can both make the podium we will try to hold on to our positions or maybe even improve it,” said Roman who is losing 7 seconds on Quintana. “We will see if the time trial suits me tomorrow. We are going to inspect the course in the morning so that we wouldn’t get surprised.”

The Tinkoff-Saxo controlled the beginning of today´s stage.”…but soon the sprinter´s teams took the initiative, especially Lotto, IAM and Giant. We rode over two climbs and the Cannondale team tried to give others hard time on the other one in an effort to shake off the pure sprinters but most of them managed to hang in there. Towards the end, Omega Pharma-Quick Step hit the front and they eventually celebrated the victory thanks to Cav. In the end, the stage was really fast and it was close to impossible to save some strength,” said Roman.
