Legs hurt a little

Tue March 9, 2010, 18:05

As expected, the second stage of the Paris-Nice had no impact on the general classification. Roman Kreuziger finished in the 26th position while his Slovak teammate Sagan hit the finish line second, closely behind the winner.

"At first, on the flat stretches, a group of four riders, which included our Finetto, broke away. The breakaway was chased down with 25 kilometers remaining, so apparently, the sprint was very likely. We were supposed to deliver a lead-out for Chicchi but eventually, it was Sagan who sprinted for the victory. He closely finished second which is a shame because he had good legs. For a rookie competing for the first time in such a race it is a good show of promising talent," Roman said.
"There was a crash with 500 meters to go but luckily, nobody of our team was involved. Some riders went down in front of me but I managed to avoid the pile up. Today I didn't have as good legs as yesterday, I felt a bit tired. It may have been because of the cold - although sunny, it is only around five degrees," Roman added. Tomorrow we can hardly expect any major changes in the general classification. "Finally, tomorrow’s stage includes a climb but it appears that it will finish in a bunch sprint anyway."
2nd stage (Contres-Limoges, 201.5 km): 1st Bonnet (Fra/Bouygues Telecm) 4:22:40, 2nd Sagan (Svk/Liquigas-Doimo), 3rd L. Sanchez (Spa/Caisse d’Epargne), 4th Lorenzetto (Ita/Lampre), 5th Haedo (Arg/Saxo Bank), ... 26th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Liquigas-Doimo).
Overall: 1st Boom (Ned/Rabobank) 8:55:51, 2nd Voigt (Ger/Saxo Bank) +5, 3rd L. Sanchez +10, 4th Millar (GBr/Garmin) +13, 5th Roman Kreuziger +15.
