Luckily, we avoided the crash

After the prologue and first stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico Roman sits in 42^nd position with only 14 seconds behind the leader. Roman´s teammate Peter Sagan took second in the bunch sprint.

“It is a good thing that Peter finished on the podium. He tried to sprint and this result will definitely boost his confidence. Tomorrow´s finish should suit him even better so we will see, said Roman.

“The stage was controlled by the Movistar and Etixx teams, the last 60 kilometers were very windy. We tried to ride up front to eliminate the risk of falling down. Towards the end, there was a crash but luckily, nobody from us got tangled. We are happy to have this stage behind us and we will see what the other days will bring,” added Roman.
