Roman pulled off a very impressive performance in the final time trial of the Tour de Romandie. He finished in 5th position and has moved up to 6th place in the general classification. Bradley Wiggins grabbed the victory.
The 3rd stage of the Tour de Romandie has seen no shuffle in the GC, either. The Brit Bradley Wiggins from Sky held on to his lead, Roman is now sitting in 16th place losing 19 seconds. His teammate Tiralongo took third in today´s stage.
After the start of the Tour de Romandie Roman had to start using antibiotics due to his cold that he caught at the Tour de Trentino. He finished taking the pills on Wednesday and reported that he was feeling much better. “I was just suffering a bit in the first stage,” he revealed.
Roman lost less than 18 seconds on the British winner Thomas in the prologue of the Tour de Romandie. He started off among the last riders and he did not run any risks on the wet roads and finished in 69th position.
Three years ago in the Liquigas colors Roman claimed the overall win at the Tour de Romandie. This year he is taking this race as a test for Giro and he believes that he will be able to match the likes of Evans, Wiggins and Cunego.
