Ninth place is all right for meSun July 25, 2010, 21:52 As expected, the last stage of the Tour did not mix up the general classification and Roman has finished in ninth place overall. "Considering the competition which was bigger than last year, I have nothing to complain about and accept this position," he said.
"Before the start of the Tour I had said that my primary goal would be top ten so I am satisfied. Some riders like Van den Broeck or Hesjedal, who we hadn’t considered for top ten, made their way to the top, but every year is different," said Roman shortly before going to dinner with his Liquigas teammates. He knows very well that some days were not as fine as he would have imagined. "For example, the stage in which we rode over Tourmalet where I lost the contact in the last kilometer, the stage to 3 Aux-Domaines and then the stage with the cobbles where some riders went down in front of me. It proved that if you want to fight for top five you cannot have a single bad day which wasn’t my case. Despite this, I am content with my performance," he admitted.
