Solid time trial

“I´m quite happy with the outcome. It was a really fast time trial and the last three kilometers were really hard because there was a strong headwind. I had good feelings about the trial and from the team´s point of view, it also came out well,” Roman said. He was taken aback by the Sky´s leader performance. “We had expected that Froome would gain some time on us, something slightly over a minute but I was amazed to see him fight with Martin over the victory on this kind of a course. He was the only GC contender who really pulled off an excellent time trial, the rest had pretty much the similar times,” Roman said. Froome managed to gain two minutes on his closest rival in the GC, Valverde. Alberto and Roman are sitting almost 4 minutes behind. “He has a big gap now but we are not definitely throwing in the towel.  It would not be the right approach to start saying that we have now lost the Tour. I still believe that we can figure something out in the Alps and fight over the overall victory. Now the bottom-line is to take a proper rest until the Mont Ventoux stage and we will take some risks in one of the stages in the Alps,” Roman revealed.
