Roman finished in 51st position at the 96th edition of the Liege-Bastogne-Liege. For the second time in his career Alexander Vinokurov won the last spring classic after 258 kilometers of riding.

"Today I was not feeling very good. I was riding in the front group of forty riders on the ascent on St. Nicholas with eight kilometers to go but then I started to suffer from cramps so I decided to ease off. Taking into account that the Tour de Romandie starts on Tuesday it would not have been the best option to ride hard with cramps in my legs," Roman said. 
He felt confident and wanted to fight for the best result possible… "This is why I am disappointed a bit. I was in the front group at the Amstel and in a breakaway at the La Fleche so I was hoping it could work out today. But I was not feeling for 100% and then, in a race like this, you don’t stand a chance. It is really a tough race which only the strongest can win and Vinokurov was the best one today," admitted Roman who is tomorrow traveling by car to Switzerland for the Tour of Romandie. The prologue starts on the Tuesday afternoon.
