The Tour of Poland served its purpose toward the Olympics

“After a long time I participated in a race where I didn’t have to focus on the GC and the team management gave me a free hand. I took the Polish Tour as a good build-up for the Olympics and as a first race after a break. In this regard it has definitely served its purpose,” Roman said.“The competition was very strong, many other riders were getting ready for the Olympics here in Poland. Every day the pace was kept up high and I put in good racing kilometers. On Sunday I spent 172km in a breakaway with four riders. We were chased down with 10km to go,” the Astana rider revealed.Roman is scheduled to fly to Prague tomorrow morning and after two easy days he is going to start the final preparations for the Olympics. “I will be riding two days in the Šumava mountains and two days in the Krušné mountains. I hope that the weather will get better,” said Roman who is traveling to London next week.
