Thumbs up for Orica

The third stage of the Basque Tour didn’t see any changes in the GC and as expected, it came down to a bunch sprint of a big group. The Orica GreenEdge celebrated the victory as Michael Matthews grabbed the win. Roman arrived with the main peloton in 19th position and he sits in 9th place overall.

“Today, as the flag dropped a small break formed and held a gap. The minute we chased them down another solo rider rode away and at the 40km mark, it all started to settle a little bit. Luckily for us, we didn’t have to do much work at the front because the Orica squad took the reins of the stage and, in the end, they took a well-deserved victory. Even though it was the longest stage of this race it was a relatively safe and peaceful day for us, the true racing began with 50km to go,” said Roman.
