The fourth stage of the Giro di Sardegna is a history and Roman Kreuziger still remains in the top position of the race. Today’s finish was marked by a crash involving several riders.

"I estimate about 70 riders attempted to sprint today and the bunch crashed 300 meters away from the finish line. It was caused by one of the spectators who stupidly leant over the barrier and tried to take pictures. Petacchi didn't notice him, fell down and other riders went over him," said Roman who was not involved in the crash but his teammate Sabatini was not that lucky. 
The sprint was won by Hondo but it had no impact on the general classification."The stage was of an average difficulty. Early on, eight riders broke away and rode for about 130 kilometers in a breakaway. There were two ten-kilometer climbs at the end of the stage but they were not particularly tough. Of the top riders only Visconti managed to gain two seconds on me because he managed to avoid the crash and took the second place. The last stage is 140 kilometers long and it isn't very difficult. The stage should be finished in a bunch sprint but the race is not over yet. Options still remain open, " admitted Roman. 
Results - 4th stage: 1st Hondo (Ger) 4:25:01, 2nd Visconti, 3rd Modolo(Ita), 4th Giunti (Ita), 5th Rovny (Rus), ... 16th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Liquigas), all the same time.  
Overall classification: 1st Roman Kreuziger 18:43:15, 2nd Horner (USA) +4, 3rd Voeckler (Fra) +6, 4th Caruso (Ita), 5. Caruso (It.), 6. Niemiec (Pol) all +10.
