Tour was definitely not a disappointment. Now off to San Sebastian

Roman returned back home from the Tour de France with a great feeling of satisfaction in a job well done. Despite the fact that the Tinkoff-Saxo leader Alberto Contador did not achieve his coveted double and finished fifth, the Russian squad took third in the team classification, Rafal Majka won a stage and Peter Sagan defended the green jersey.
“I am really glad to have been part of this team. We were planning to complete Alberto´s double but unfortunately, it did not work out. If he had not tried it he would have regretted it. That is the way it goes in sport and there were simply riders that were fresher than him and finished ahead of him. It is no big deal, we all fought hard. Alberto will definitely come back next year more motivated.”
He looks positively on the Tinkoff-Saxo performance. “We cannot talk about a disappointment. Apart from the green jersey and a stage win, we also wore the red number for the most aggressive rider and I think that we showed our best qualities as a team. Especially, thanks to Sagan who was excellent,” said Roman.
He himself was quite satisfied with his performance. “I was a little bit tired in the Pyrenees but I got better in the Alps, which was great.”
After the Tour he returned to the Czech Republic for a while but today he is travelling to Spain. He is going to line up at the Saturday´s one-day race Clásica San Sebastian. “We will see how I feel. I really like this race but I have to wait and see if I have the legs to fight for the top positions. It is really hard to say what shape I am currently in but I am looking forward to it,” explained Roman.
