We were out of luck at the end

Roman finished in 29th position at the 106th edition of the Italian classic race Milano-San Remo, while his Slovakian teammate Peter Sagan took forth,

“We were out of luck at the end of the race. First we lost Juul-Jensen who had a nasty crash. On top of that, Bodnar had a puncture just before the Cipressa climb, he was a key rider for the stretch between the Cipressa and Poggio climbs. He did not manage to get back in the bunch so it was up to me to keep Sagan in a good position, described Roman.

When riding up to Poggio I hit the front but then the bunch split because of a crash. The group strung out as the pace increased and we did not manage to get back to support Sagan in the finale. It is a pity because he is in excellent shape and I think that if any of us had been with him in the first group he would have grabbed a victory,” said Roman.
