Welfare with Basso and PellizottiTue December 8, 2009, 22:19 Today I took part in a charitable action called Pedala con campioni. It was basically a tranquil ride in the outskirts of Varese.
The start and finish were in the town of Brinzio and except from me, some other teammates participated, including Basso, Pellizotti, Santaromita and then, for example, from other teams Gasparotto, Paolini or Freire. We all stood on the start line without any financial claims. About 2400 amateur riders started off with us and every one of them paid the starting fee. Proceeds went to the endowment foundation supporting homeless children. The course was 52 kilometers long and the organizer did a really good job, everything was perfect. Today it was a public holiday in Italy, the traffic stopped so that children could take a ride with us. I'm happy to support children in need and after all, it was a really good distraction.
