Saving the energy

“We were trying to cover the breakaways. Eventually, Di Gregorio managed to get into one and it is a pity it didn’t work out but we will keep on trying. The final stretch was quite hard and I slackened off my pace 20km from the finish. There was no point in wearing myself out. I want to save as much energy as possible and recover from the wrist injury. I need to be fit for the Pyrenees and the Alps, and I still believe that our strategy will work and we will grab a stage victory,” Roman said. “I´m also glad that the stage wasn’t so stressful despite the crash at 15km mark. There was a pile-up of about 40 riders but nobody got hurt.”Stage 10 (Aurillac-Carmaux, 158 km): 1st André Greipel (Ger/Omega Pharma-Lotto) 3:31:21, 2nd Mark Cavendish (GBr/HTC-Highroad), 3rd José Joaquín Rojas (Spa/Movistar), 4th Thor Hushovd (Nor/Garmin-Cervélo), 5th Romain Feillu (Fra/Vacansoleil), 6th Daniel Oss (Ita/Liquigas), … 133rd Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana) +5:59.
