Superb prep on Canary Islands, now back to Calpe

“I reckon that the upcoming camp in Calpe will be aimed at more intensive training,” said Roman who is flying to Spain on Monday. “I´m well prepared so I have nothing to be afraid of. I´m doing all I can to be in a competitive shape right at the start of the season,” he revealed.Quite a few Astana riders are set to gather at the training  camp in Calpe. “Except for the guys who are currently competing in Australia everybody si coming to the camp. We all have been racking up the kilometers in the warm climate so we should be pretty much on the same level but surely we will be divided into several training groups,” he revealed.Roman returned from a two-week camp on Canary Islands and he was really content with his progress. “I did a lot of good work,  together with Gasparotti I decided to ride over some reasonable climbs. Besides, thanks to the warm weather I managed to lose some weight. I´m slowly reaching my ideal race weight. Considering that it is only January I´m happy with the way the things are going,” Roman added. After his return he is going to spend four relatively easy days. “I´d like to go cross-country skiing or perhaps I will go out for a ride. And I will do some gym training, as well,” Roman outlined his plans. On Monday he is traveling to Spain where he will be preparing until February 5. “And after that, I will move to Tenerife for the last high altitude camp. It has always helped me tune up my shape before the first races,” he added.
