Christmas Eve on the bike and plane

“I am going to do a five-hour ride on Christmas Eve and then I am flying back home. I should land in Nuremberg before midnight and it will take probably two hours to get home from there unless the flight is delayed,” Roman said. “I have no regrets, I have spent Christmas on Majorca before. I am a pro and have to take advantage of this sunny weather to practice,” added one of the Astana’s leaders. He is planning to spend two days after his arrival in Sumava mountains with his family and then he is going to Italy. He has no intentions to treat himself to her mum’s delicious cuisine “I have begun to watch my weight again and I can tell the difference. I am just two kilos over my ideal weight during the racing season. I weigh some 69 kilos,” he revealed. Roman has nothing but praise for the practice rides on Majorca. “There is a great crew of riders here. I am sharing the room with Gasparotti, plus Štyby and my dad spent some time here. The other day we got to ride with the Lotto team who are here in the complete line-up at a training camp. Some Germans like Zabel and Klier joined in, too, because they both live here. Zabel has retired from cycling but he still rides and is capable of keeping up with us for the whole ride,” Roman revealed. He has completed two practice series but he still combines bike riding and gym practicing. “I have kicked off the season a bit sooner than last year and bearing in mind that it is December now I am feeling really good. Unlike in the Czech Republic, the weather is really nice here, so the conditions are ideal.
