Excellent prologue and eyes on the Olympics

“I knew the course very well and, on top of that, I checked out the course three times during the warm-up to brush up. I must say that I´m very pleased with the outcome, just like I have been with all the prologues I´ve ridden lately. I gave it my best and considering the fact that I haven’t raced for two weeks, it is not a bad result at all,” said Roman who lost 19 seconds on the victorious Sagan. “His victory didn’t come as a surprise because it was just the kind of prologue that suited him best. He could use his power and explosiveness,” he added. He is not setting any specific goals for the race. “We´ve brought along a strong team. Kessiakoff took fifth today and Kiserlovski is considered for the Tour de France, so the team is not riding in my services. The team management leaves the captain´s role open for the time being. Of course, we want to take a stage victory at least and someone of our team should clinch a front position in the GC,” Roman revealed. “I don’t want to get stressed out in any way. I feel good so we will see how it goes throughout the race. We have a really hard race ahead of us and I look forward to it.”Roman is also expecting to get in shape at the Tour de Suisse for the upcoming national championship that takes place in the Slovak town of Púchov. “Riding the national championship is one of the conditions for qualifying for the Olympics and I´m very tempted to ride there. The Olympics are held every four years and apart from the Giro, it has been my biggest highlight of this season. I´m hoping to earn a spot on the national team and if I manage to do so I will fight for the best result possible.” Roman said.Prologue: 1. P. Sagan (Svk/Liquigas) 9:43, 2. Cancellara (Swi/Radio Shack-Nissan) +4, 3. Moser /Ita/Liquigas) +7, 4. Elmiger (Swi/AG2R) +11, 5. Kessiakoff  (Swe/Astana) +15, 6. Albasini (Swi/GreenEdge) +17, 7. Cataldo (Ita/Omega Pharma-Quick Step) +18, 8. Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana) +19.
