Excellent start and Bozic´s second place

“I have really great feelings about first participation. We worked together well and we took control over the race at the 98km mark as we pulled all the stops to catch the escapees. We were riding at the front until 3km to go. We took turns mostly with Brajkovic, Kessiakoff and Gasparotti. We worked really hard today,” Roman said after the race.“It was a really fast race, the average speed reached some 43km/h. It was exactly the kind of start into the season that I needed. The stage race on Sardinia would have fitted into my preparation better but even the Clásica de Almería was worth it. It took some time for me to get used to riding in the pack again and I know that I am on the right track,” added the Astana rider who was happy for his teammate Bozic. “It is really good that Bozic finalized our team efforts with the second place.”Roman is going to take a three hour ride in Spain tomorrow morning and then he is traveling to the Czech Republic for a while. “After that, I´m heading to Italy where I will be preparing for the Tirreno Adriatico. Then I will do a test on the track to adjust my position on the time trial bike on Wednesday and another outdoor test is planned for Thursday. And then I am traveling to the venue of the race Monstepaschi Strade Bianche (known as Eroica) on Friday,” Roman added. Results (186 km): 1st Michael Matthews (Aus/Rabobank) 4:24:16, 2nd Borut Bozic (Slo/Astana), 3rd Roger Kluge (Ger/1t4i), 4th Stéphane Poulhies (Fra/Saur-Sojasun), 5th Francisco Ventoso Alberdi (Spa/Movistar), … 58th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana) +1:47.
