I didn’t want to wrap it up

“I have mixed feelings about the race but I´m trying to take it easy. It is a good thing that we took a stage victory but my performance was rather poor,” Roman admitted. The last stage was 135 kilometers long with the transfer and was considered one of the most difficult. “It was because of the weather. The race is called “race to the sun” but it was the other way around. The closer to the south we got, the worse the weather was. The conditions were really terrible on Sunday. The temperature was between 5 and 8 degrees and it was pouring down all day long. A group of seven riders broke away and they built up a gap of 1:30min. We were right behind them but then the pack broke up on a downhill and remained at the back. Then we were unable to rejoin the chasing group,” Roman said after the stage that a lot of riders abandoned. “I didn’t want to call it quits. It is important to finish even those races, in which you don’t feel great.Roman is going to take three days off. “I´m going to spend two days in the Czech Republic. A press conference in Prague is scheduled for Tuesday and then I´m going to Mlada Boleslav to take over a sponsor car and sign a few autographs. I have some  TV shooting scheduled for Wednesday and the next day,  I´m travelling back to Italy where I will start the final preparation for the Giro. Next Tuesday I´m leaving for Tenerife where I will be staying for 16  days until 8th April,” revealed Roman whose next race in the season should be the Giro del Trentino, starting on April 19.8th stage (124 km): 1st Voeckler (Fra/Europcar) 3:15:58, 2nd Ulissi (Ita/Lampre) +23, 3rd El Fares (Fra/Cofidis), 4th S.
