Saving energy for the next day

“A breakaway group was expected to go away and that´s what happened. We suffered a bit at the beginning  of the stage as we had an average speed of 51km/h after the first hour of racing. We had nobody up front but our intention was to save as much energy as possible for tomorrow. It was pleasant to see that the weather has turned fine,” Roman admitted.Roman had good legs on the final ascent. “I was wondering if Rodriguez would try to do something but since a group of riders was ahead of us, he would get no time bonuses. We just watched out for each other. If anybody had attacked it would have been of no use and this tactics could have backfired. Tomorrow is the first extremely tough stage,” Roman said about the tomorrow´s  stage featuring five climbs, including the last one finishing at the height of 2236m above sea level.16th stage (Limone sul Garda-Falzes, 174 km): 1.
