Set to do our best to help Alberto win

This afternoon Roman left for Spain where he is participating in the Basque Tour with one and only goal: to support Alberto Contador and help him to secure the overall victory.

“Alberto is on great form, which he proved at the Tirreno and last time at the Tour de Catalonia. He can definitely win the race and we will do our best to support him. As for myself, once again, I will play the role of his main lieutenant in the hard stages. We will see what I will get out of this. Should I have a chance to fight for the GC it would come as a bonus for me,” said Roman.

The Basque Tour is known for being one of the most demanding one-week stage races. “Right the first stage is very tough and it can prove to be crucial for the further development of the race. That´s why we did a recon of the key sections of that stage on Sunday,” said Roman.

He is returning back to racing action after the Italian classic Milan-San Remo. “Following that race I had five easy riding days . I needed to take a breather, so I also went downhill skiing. Then I got back to my preparation on the bike. For the last few days I have been riding together with František Raboň who just came back from the Cape Epic. We put in a couple of great rides in the Šumava mountains and in the surroundings of Pilsen,” he revealed.
