Should have stayed on Nibali

Are you pleased with another second position? No. I didn’t capture a victory that I and my team worked so hard for. Had I arrived with Nibali that would have been all right for me but I unnecessarily lost some seconds on him. What flashed through your mind when he attacked with 4km to go?I was waiting for Horner to react but I missed out on my chance. I should have followed him right away but we let him go instead.Would you have been able to ride with him?I don’t know if I had stayed with him but one thing is for sure: Today I messed up. I shouldn’t have waited. When I noticed how close we had gotten to him in the last 500m I am convinced that we could have arrived all three together or gained some time on Nibali. What are you chances now?Yesterday I said that Horner was the biggest contender but now it is Nibali, too. The gaps are relatively small. It would be ideal if a group of several riders broke away tomorrow and took all the bonus points at the intermediate sprints. I don’t think that any of us would try to do something. We will fight for the overall victory in the final time trial. It is going to be all or nothing but I still believe that I could take the overall win.5th stage (Martinsicuro-Prati di Tivo, 196 km): 1. Vincenzo Nibali (Ita/Liquigas) 5:46:33, 2. Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana), 3. Chris Horner (USA/ RadioShack-Nissan) +16, 4. Johnny Hoogerland (Ned/Vacansoleil), 5. Michele Scarponi (Ita/Lampre-ISD) +18.Overall: 1. Horner   24:48:39, 2. Roman Kreuziger +5, 3. Nibali +12, 4. Nocentini (Ita/AG2R) +45, 5. Scarponi +47, 6. Hoogerland +48.
