Taking no risks in the prologue

“Those who had the legs for the first kilometer and were willing to take chances could get a good result today. I had good legs but the last two kilometers were very technical and I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks because the Giro is coming up. There were eight turns on the course and I think that I lost about one and a half seconds in each of them. It could be those eleven seconds that I lost,” Roman said.He didn’t overrate today´s results, though. “The most important thing was to survive the prologue unscathed. The true race begins tomorrow. There is a mountain-top finish and I will try to figure out something with Vino. The Wednesday´s stage and the Saturday´s time trial could be decisive,” admitted the Czech rider.Prologue (3.5 km): 1st Jonathan Castroviejo (Spa/Euskaltel) 3:40, 2nd Taylor Phinney (USA/BMC), 3rd Leigh Howard (Aus/HTC-Highroad) +1, 4th Geoffroy Lequatre (Fra/RadioShack), 5th David Millar (GBr/Garmin) both +2, … 50th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana) +11.
