Third in stage after crashing!

“I´m glad to have moved up in the GC. I´m in a good position in the race but I remain realistic. There are still many stages to come,” Roman said.Despite his involvement in a crash at the 120km mark he delivered an extraordinary performance. “Some riders in front of me went down on the wet road so there was a pile-up and I just couldn’t avoid it. I bumped my knee, fell down on my shoulder and hit my head a bit. My eye is swollen now and my chin is bruised but it is nothing serious. After the stage I went for a check-up and the bottom line is that my knee is all right,” Roman revealed.Other than that, he was, once more, happy with the way the team worked today. “We had a rider in a breakaway and all the guys rode well. Before the final downhill I moved up towards the front to minimize the risk of falling in the rain. I was planning to take control of that group but then, when Scarponi hit the deck, a gap suddenly opened up. We took advantage of it and managed to gain some time. Congrats to Sagan, hats off to his performance on that hard climb. He deserved the victory. I had no designs for the stage victory because I focused on gaining as much time as possible on my rivals,” Roman revealed. “The new race leader is Frank so the pressure is on the BMC team and we can keep a low profile.”
