Tiralongo almost on his limit

“He lives near Bergamo, close to the today’s route and he wanted to show off. Too bad he missed out on the chance to go off with those three riders but it is no big deal. I am not worried about him going into the red because the pack was riding as fast as the escapees,” Roman described.“I thought that some riders would get clear and then we would take it easy in the pack but it was the opposite. After the first hour we reached the average of 53km/h and the following hour we did 51km/h. The first group of riders rode away after 100km of racing and then the pace slackened off. Toward the end I tried to save as much energy as possible.”Tomorrow´s stage features a hard climb to the top of Macugnaga at 1360m above sea level. “It is a rolling 28km climb. A big group is expected to arrive at the finish. We will see how aggressive the riders will be. I believe that I´m well-prepared for the final part of the Giro,” Roman added.
