Roman is cleared and he can race again

Roman was cleared of any wrongdoing and he can race again! The International Cycling Union (UCI) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) dismissed the case against Roman from 2011 and 2012. He is thus free and he can start preparing for the next races.

“From this moment I can fully concentrate on my job again and do not have to worry about my future, that is now clear,” admitted Roman who held an impromptu press conference.

“I’m pleased that my name was completely cleared. We fought for it. My conscience is clear, I’m not a cheater.”

“I am happy that this case is over and I feel great relief. It was a very difficult period. I would like to thank all the people who supported me. I put this issue behind me so that I could fully concentrate on my race schedule,” said Roman who is gearing up for the Tour de France.

The case have dragged on for almost two years. The Czech Olympic Committee cleared Roman of wrongdoing last September. However, the UCI and WADA appealed the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne where the hearing was scheduled for June 10.

“We were informed that the UCI and WADA withdrew their appeals based on the availability of newly-obtained information and they will, therefore, not proceed further,” commented Roman´s attorney Jan Šťovíček.

“It was very long two years, which were not easy either for me or for my family who lived through it with me,” Roman added. “We were ready to go to Lausanne but this option is definitely better.”
