We did not help Sagan as much as we wanted

Just like in the 4th stage of the Tirreno, Roman´s teammate Peter Sagan finished runner-up. Roman crossed the finish line in the main group in the 43rd place.

“The Movistar team did not care about the fact that they were wearing the leader´s jersey and the breakaway group of 5 riders had a gap of 14 minutes after 20 kilometres of racing. We sent Juul Jensen to the front who started pulling at the 20km mark and Tosatto joined him right after the feed zone. The boys did a great job, controlled the gap and in the end we chased the breakaway group down,” described Roman.

“Unfortunately, we got boxed in a little bit in the final lap. Even though Peter was riding in the front we should have prepared a better position for him. I feel bad that we did not win the stage I think that we missed a great opportunity,” admitted Roman.
