Battle for the rainbow jersey: It´s going to be a gamble

What are your expectations of the World Championship race?I take it as any other classic race. We will see what the race situation will be after 120km ridden, at which point a breakaway group usually takes form. It´s going to be a bit of a gamble and it is hard to make any predictions before the race. You should be familiar with the circuit from the Amstel Gold Race…That is right, I have already done that race four times. At first, we will ride a 100km loop and then we will move to the well-known circuits with the Cauberg climb. There are very narrow roads so it will be necessary to keep at the front. All in all, the race is going to be very tough.Who do you consider the biggest contenders for victory?I guess it is quite obvious: Valverde, Sagan, Boonen, Gilbert, Rodriguez, Gerrans. The Spaniards will be very strong and they are very likely to make the race. The Italian riders are going to wager on Nibali so their goal will be to split the pack into as many groups as possible, just like the Russians with Kolobnyev as their leader. Is it going to be an advantage that the Czech team will start in seven riders? It should be our advantage. We haven’t talked about the tactics yet but it will be much better than in two or three riders.Do you think you will reach an agreement?I hope that there will be no problem. I guess it is not a good idea to ride for one selected leader. With so many riders on the team we want to get the most out of it. I think that Štyby and König are in great shape, and Bárta pulled off an excellent ride in the time trial so we have a competitive team.
