Calm before the storm

The atmosphere in the peloton seemed rather restless at the start of the stage, which caused a couple of crashes. “We had a rider in the first breakaway but they were all chased down. Following that, other four riders rode off and stayed cleared until the finish. The best placed of them was losing 25minutes so the group didn’t pose a threat. Once again, I have to appreciate the work my teammate did today as they kept me well sheltered. Those escapees reached a maximum gap of 15mins and then we reduced it to 10min at the end but it wasn’t our goal to bring them back. Everybody was mentally getting ready for tomorrow because it is going to be really tough,” commented Roman on the stage, in which the riders will have to tackle a grueling 4km climb to the top of Albulapass at the altitude of 2315m.
