Mechanical at the most inconvenient moment

“The first trouble happened with 45km to go but I managed to get back on. The second time, I wasn’t that lucky. My chain came off the minute we hit the last climb. I lost contact with the group of favorites and, on top of that, I didn’t have as good legs as yesterday. It is a pity because if I´d stayed in the group with Alberto it could have been a different scenario. Together we might have figured something out. He could have finished in a better position and moved up in the GC and I may have stayed in top ten. But there is nothing we can do about it,” Roman said.“It was a killer stage, like I predicted. There were about 18 climbs along the way and we rode the last steep kick three times. It was extremely tough. Besides, the wet conditions didn’t make the race any easier, when I tried to ride out of saddle on the last sharp climb my rear wheel started slipping. Once again, I have to congratulate to Sagan who well deserved the victory after his aggressive style of riding. He had no fear today and as expected, he was the best sprinter out of those three riders.”
