My first involvement in a crash

“The crash happened with 50km to go when I was riding in the middle of the pack. One rider in front of me dropped his chain and as he was trying to get it back, he hit the deck. We bumped him from behind and crashed as well. There were some six riders involved in that pile-up. Me and Morkov got tangled into but fortunately, we didn’t get injured, we are not even scraped. My Achilles tendon is just hurting a bit because somebody´s bike landed on it,” Roman described. At the end of the day, he lost 3 minutes in the stage but it had nothing to do with the crash. “We did our best to make sure that Nico Roche and Rafa Majka stayed up front in the finale. I was working together with Tosatto and then we eased off. Only Morkov stayed with them and I´m glad that we made it without any major difficulties because the finish was quite dangerous. Besides, there was a strong wind coming from the sea,” added Roman.
