Not there yet, splint replaces the cast

“They removed the cast and I underwent a magnetic resonance examination in the local hospital in Mlada Boleslav. The results showed that everything was going as planned but the bone hasn’t knitted properly yet. This is why, I have my hand in a splint,” Roman said.He is going to be X-rayed on the 20th September and so far it is not clear how long he is going to wear the splint. “I want my hand to heal completely and not rush into anything in order to avoid any possible complications at my rides. I hope it will get better in two week´s time. Then I would be able to compete at the World Championship as it has been my plan. If I had to keep my hand in a splint, though, I would then decide whether I should keep racing or wrap up this season,” admitted Roman who has regularly informed the Astana team of the course of his treatment. He keeps practicing in Pilsen and, in his view, riding the bike with the splint on is much easier. “I have been riding with Raboň and another Czech pro Kozubek kept us company until yesterday. I´ve spent over 50 hours on the bike in the last two weeks. Now it is time for me to do more intensive training and for this reason, I participated in a local circuit race on Wednesday. I was sheltered in the pack for the most of the race but in the end, I helped Franky (Raboň) who eventually grabbed the victory,” Roman revealed.
