Racing test before Giro came out right

“I didn’t target the front positions in the GC at the Romandie, I took it as a tune-up race. My racing schedule was pretty tight in the last few weeks and it turned out that I had done some hard training. I think that we performed well as a team. Vino took a stage victory and even made the podium. I tested out my shape and have a good feeling about my condition”, Roman said after the today´s stage in which he tried to attack toward the end. “I gave it a try with 1500m to go. The pack got restless and I didn’t want risk crashing.”Roman is coming back from Switzerland to his Italian home and either tomorrow or on Tuesday he is going to do another reconnaissance ride of a Giro stage. “It is the one that follows after the Zoncolan with the finish Gardecci. I´m planning to cover the last 80 kilometers. If I set off on Monday I will take a day off the bike on Tuesday and then I will be travelling to the venue of the Giro on Wednesday,” Roman revealed his next schedule.5th stage (164.6 km): 1st Ben Swift (GBr/Sky) 3:50:51, 2nd Davide Vigano (Ita/Leopard-Trek), 3rd Oscar Freire (Spa/Rabobank), 4th Fabio Sabatini (Ita/Liquigas), 5th Enrico Gasparotto (Ita/Astana), … 105th Roman Kreuziger (Cze/Astana) +54.
