Sagan performs really well despite crash

“Our soigneurs have already made it there. One part of our staff who is in charge of the team cars set out this morning by boat and the rest is leaving in the evening. It takes around five hours to get there by boat and we are taking a plane, which should take around an hour,” Roman said on his way to the airport. The Saxo-Tinkoff team coped well with today´ stage. “We were riding at the front and we suspected that the stage would cost us more energy. We were rolling at a brisk pace and the stage passed quite quickly. We knew that the last descent was quite technical, so we wanted to hold on to the front position. We don´t go into in final bunch sprints, even Bennati is mainly here to find a safe position for us in the final scrimmages. We are not taking any risks,” Roman revealed. He had a word of praise for Sagan although he hasn’t scored a victory yet. “The crash in the first stage must have cost him some skin. He was badly bruised and it is never easy to bounce back quickly. Considering what happened to him, he performs really well.”Tomorrow the team time trial is on the menu for the riders. “We are going to check out the course tomorrow morning. We expect it to be really fast and we will see how it goes. What is important is, how quickly each rider recovers and the team cooperation will be vital as well. It is a good thing that Alberto is getting better and better after the crash, so we remain relaxed,” Roman added.
