The loss upsets me, but I am fighting on

“I´m upset about the loss. When the favorites accelerated my legs were a bit stiff. I almost got back on but I shouldn’t have let that happen,” Roman regretted.“On the other hand it was the first mountain stage and this time loss doesn’t mean that much. Tomorrow is another hard stage with long climbs and the crucial moments won´t occur until the last week of the Giro. It is way too early to make any calculations now because we still have four mountain stages ahead of us,” added the Astana leader. The pink jersey went back to Hesjedal as he had gained 26 seconds on his rivals. “He was very strong today and it was a well-timed move from him. Rodriguez probably thought that he would close the gap but Hesjedal was stronger.”After the today´s stage Roman was flown with other team members to the hotel by helicopter to save some time. “The transfer was 220km long and since another hard stage lies ahead of us tomorrow, the team management had decided to hire a chopper. Tiralongo, Gasparotto, Seeldrayers and our masseur accompanied me. We made it much faster than we would have the usual way,” he revealed.14th stage (Cheraso-Cervinia, 205 km): 1.
