Thumbs-up to Sagan and his team

“I think many riders underestimated this stage. It was really hard, all the time up and down. It was tailor-made to Peter as the fastest sprinters didn’t make it over the climbs and he did. His team Cannondale did an excellent job on the front and hats off to them. They worked hard for the victory and they deserved it. I guess that they surprised everybody by how fast they were going over the toughest climb. In my opinion, the stage cost many riders a lot of energy and the tomorrow´s hilly stage might take the toll,” Roman said. “Our team was almost complete in the first group, except for Paulino and Noval who were working at the beginning. It is nice that Bennati did well in the sprint, he felt that it could be his chance,” praised Roman his teammate. He himself had good feelings about his condition. He knows very well that his services will be needed over the weekend in the Pyrenees. “Two difficult stages lie ahead of us. Especially the Saturday one because it features a mountain-top finish. We will see how it goes, every day the pace is set really high. I will do my best to support Alberto,” Roman added.
