“I wasn’t positioned well on the last downhill and Kasrten Kroon and Nick Sörensen helped me to move up toward the front. It was pretty dangerous and I didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks. In the end, I did manage to hit the front but it cost me a lot of effort. When the best riders picked up the pace on the Mur de Huy I had no energy left in my tank to follow,” Roman said.“All in all, we pulled off a solid performance. We knew that we had no faster riders in our line-up. We just wanted to give it a go but our opponents were simply better. I´m not surprised by the trio who made the podium. Those short steep climbs are Moreno´s strong point. In the morning I said that all the Colombian riders could easily make the podium and I wasn’t far from the truth,” he admittedRoman believes that chances of his team succeeding at the classic Liege-Bastogne-Liege will be considerably higher. “It is going to be a completely different race and I´m convinced that we will do a better job. The team seems incredibly strong and I wish we could show our best qualities,” he added.
