A visit to London and riding in Italy

“I rounded off my racing break with a visit to London where I also wanted to check out the course of the Olympic road race. But in the end, I didn’t get down to it because of the heavy traffic there. It is practically impossible to ride along the circuit. So, I won´t test ride the course until the Friday before the race; but the conditions are the same for everyone. I´ve studied up on the course on the internet and gathered pretty much information about it,” Roman said. Now he is back in the practice swing at his Italian home near the Garda Lake. “On Wednesday I did the first hard ride in hills and the next day I put two long climbs on my training agenda,” he said. Roman is going to compete at the Tour of Poland that starts on Tuesday and it is going to be his first participation since the national championship. “I will take the race as a tune-up for the Olympic road race. The very first stage features mountains but I have no idea how good legs I will have. I´m definitely not going to ride for the GC. My intention is to get into the racing rhythm before the Olympics,” he revealed. After his return home he is planning to make the final preparations in Pilsen and in the Šumava mountains. “I can easily practice the climbs that are included in the Olympic race in the Czech Republic. The longest climb is altogether 3km long with an average gradient of 5%.”
