Alberto went down, I didn’t pull

“Alberto went down from the first position on that downhill and Froome was right behind him. I just went around them and stayed at the back of that group in case anything happened. We wanted to wait but Quintana unreasonably attacked. That wasn’t fair on his part but we couldn’t let him go. Luckily, they both made it back and then it was clear that we would finish all together,” said Roman who reported that Alberto´s knee and elbow were bruised. During the stage the riders were engaged in two battles. “…the first one over the stage victory and the other over the general classification. We were quite relaxed today because we put Roche into a breakaway. We suspected that something could happen in the stage to Gap. Besides, after a rest day, some riders may not have felt so good,” Roman added. For this reason, he and Alberto launched a series of attacks. “We were rather trying to distance Mollema. We noticed that he was suffering, so we wanted to shake him off but in the end, he stayed with us until the finish. It doesn’t matter, we gave it a try and we will keep doing that.” Tomorrow a mountain time trial is on the menu for the riders. “Froome is the hot favorite but it doesn’t mean anything. We will have to give it full gas and then we will see what happens. It is a tough time trial and it will be important not to overcook it after the start. In the morning, we are going to pre ride the course and then we will decide what wheels to use,” Roman added.
