Working hard on Tenerife

“I´ve been here since last Friday and I´ve managed to complete two training blocks. Gasparatto keeps me company here but the next week I will be here on my own because he will be leaving for the Vuelta al País Vasco. Besides that, six Liquigas riders are here as well, including Nibali and Basso,” Roman revealed.“I got acclimatized to the high altitudes relatively quickly. In the first three days I didn’t do any high intensities but now I´m working hard again. We are staying at 2100m level where the temperature is reaching 16C but every day we descend to the seaside where it is around 27C. On a training ride we climb between 3000 and 5000m and each time we want to get back to our hotel from the sea level alone the elevation difference is 2000m. I believe that all this hard work will pay off, after all. This is an ideal place for preparation, it is the fifth time I’ve been here. I did a test the other day and the results came out better than last year, so everything is going as planned,” added Roman who also has a masseur at his hand on Tenerife.
